Have you always wanted to take grainy photos on your Android phone but never had the right app to let you do it? Well, never fear! As one of the biggest social photography apps on iOS – Instagram – has announced that it will be coming to Android.
Instagram lets users take photos of themselves with a variety of filters and effects and easily share them online.
Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom made the announcement at LeWeb in Paris. While no solid date was set for the release, Systrom confirmed that he had two developers working on the Android app.
Instagram currently have 50 million users on iOS worldwide, but the user base is expected to double in number after the Android app is released.
The app is currently free on iOS, and it is expected to be free on Android as well, with developers making their money from advertising revenue. It’s only natural, then, that they want to widen their reach to further than one mobile platform.
