While Facebook is obviously designed to be a social networking site, features such as games and other apps also play a big part. Sometimes if you have a spare few minutes on your lunch break, or you’re waiting for a bus and playing around on your phone, nothing passes the time better than playing a quick game. So, with that said, here is our list of the top 5 ridiculously addictive Facebook games.
Farmville was at its height of popularity a few years ago, and you couldn’t sign in to Facebook without your newsfeed being rammed (excuse the pun) with requests for more seeds or a plea from a lost sheep looking for a home.
In order to stop people getting bored with this simple farm simulation game, the makers of Farmville continued to add a whole host of features to keep the users entertained and coming back for more, from adding ridiculous animals (like the rainbow panda) or having a host of achievements that need to be completed in order for you to collect more rewards.
While I know a lot of my Facebook friends have turned their backs on their Farmville, logging on to it after a while makes you remember why you loved it so much in the first place, and you start to care about harvesting your crops and feeding your chickens. While this may not be a game to play obsessively every minute of the day, popping on to your farm to check up on things every once in a while is still fun, and you end up playing around with it for much longer than you mean to.
- Cara’s Magic Pocket
Cara’s Magic Pocket is brought to Facebook by Confused.com, the car and home insurance comparison site. The game follows Cara Confused as she tries to work her way through a maze, collecting money and prizes as she goes, all the while trying to avoid the nasty pink bunnies and other cute critters which are out to thwart her.
The game also has a set of achievements which you can try and unlock, which gives you something additional to aim for rather than just finishing the game. If you love Pacman, you’re going to love this game.
- Bejeweled Blitz
One of the things that makes Bejeweled Blitz so addictive is the fact the each level only last 60 seconds, and you have to try and get as many points as possible in that time. Because the levels are so short, you can find yourself clicking play again more times than is probably healthy.
One of the other features that make this game so addictive is the leader board which shows you all your friends’ high scores. This then tempts you into trying to beat everyone and ruling over all on Bejeweled Blitz (until the new week starts and the scores are reset that is.)
- The Sims Social
If you’ve ever played The Sims on any other platform, then you will know it is incredibly addictive to the point where the characters in the game are probably leading a better life than you (don’t you wish you could fast-forward work sometimes?).
The Sims Social on Facebook is basically the same, except with a lot more little goals for you to complete to keep your Sim happy. There are also a lot of tasks which you need your friends help with, just so it stays nice and social.
- Cupcake Corner
Cupcake Corner is like any of the simulation games you play on Facebook, except based around a cute bakery where you make yummy cakes and try to hire you friends to save you money. The more cakes you make and sell, the more experience points you get, and therefore the more amazing things you unlock.
It’s so addictive because the better you get at it, the more different types of cakes you unlock, which you can then customise with your own colours and toppings! Awesome.
