Recycling Floppy Disks

Tech & Gadgets

Every time I go back to my room at my parents’ home I always end up finding a floppy disk hiding somewhere inside a drawer. I never throw them away, thinking that I may find a second use for them some day. Well, today’s that day, I’ve finally decided what I’m going to do with my floppy disks and I’m going to share it here with you.

1.Turn them into a bag

Roxanne Gibson sells bags made of floppy disks on her Esty shop. You can use them to take your lunch to work, your books to uni or anything you want (as long as the plastic disks and straps can withstand the weight). Will we ever see bags made of USB sticks in the future?

2. Use them to hold your favourite pens

This one is quite logical. What can you do with 6 floppy disks? A cube. What can you do with 5 floppy disks? A pen holder. Great Etsy minds think alike.

3. Turn them into a diary

Use two floppy disks as covers and just put some paper in the middle. The best way to store all your memories.

4. Convert them into planters

We’re not actually sure if your plants will survive in them, but don’t they look cute? Besides, you can tag the names of the plants and their special needs.

5.Use them as cases for your CDs/DVDs

We don’t know for how long CDs and DVDs will stay around us,but you can use floppy disks to create cases and covers like Jarabito has done on this Instructables guide.

Come back to this blog in 5 years time and we will have probably prepared a blog post on what to do with your old CDs.
