Strange Developments In The World Of Tech

In the world of tech there are always people pushing to develop new and sometimes quite bizarre technology. I thought I would have a quick look at some of the stranger ideas that are being developed. Hold on to your hats!

Air bags for homes. This is being developed in Japan and involves houses being lifted 3 cm off the ground allowing for the air bags to cushion the home from the destructive force of the earthquake. Check out the video below:

This seems like such a simple fix for a problem that can be so destructive. Although I do feel a bit bad for older gentleman showing the difference between chairs with and without air bags.

Next up on our weird and wonderful look at tech is a robot that is in development. This is no ordinary robot though, this robot can run! The Cheetah robot has recently set the world record for fastest robot managing to move at an incredible 18 mph. Anyone who has a slight phobia of robots (I’m talking to you, Nerd Insider’s Jamie Miekle!) should perhaps look away, as this thing will be chasing you down in your dreams.

Segways were hailed as the future of personal transport but have turned into a bit of a joke, well there is a rival to the Segways throne in the shape of the Solowheel. Imagine uni cycling of the future. Sounds pretty bad.

I don’t think that I will be purchasing one of these any time soon…

And finally retina displays are being talked about a lot, especially with the ongoing developments of tablet computing, but have you ever heard of retina controls? Asteroids: the classic arcade game that you play with your…eyes?

Opticians will be rubbing their hands with glee about this development.

That is it, a brief round up of some of the weirder tech developments that I have seen. Some of the developments you can clearly see why they would be beneficial but for others I find myself wondering where these people come up with their wonderful ideas.
